Challenges, Dreams and Development

History progresses through challenges and courage. People who challenge become successful. A person who begins things with fear has already lost the battle. Trenchless technology is one of the sectors where the successful have taken challenges. Only challenges undertaken by trenchless technologists burning with the fire of accomplishment have brought out newer and better working techniques. A continuous zeal to develop and an endeavour to reach greater heights in order to satisfy above desire is the basis of advancement everywhere.

Indian Trenchless sector is no different from the global counterparts and the cited desires need to be kindled in the stakeholders so that can think globally while working locally. Indian Society for Trenchless Technology is the instrument formed to do precisely the same so that both the domestic as well as international sectors grow from strength to strength. No-Dig India in your hands is the live example of this growth comparison with a similar copy four years back and this one can explain the developments.

Recent developments in Indian subsurface sector are going to open more avenues for the dreamers. Astonished by this term? You should not be since history belongs to dreamers who all of us are! Only sectors that have people with dreams, people who try to make dreams come true, and people who share dreams can be leaders of history. There are certain cautions though, your dreams have to be as pure and as clear as spring water and they need to be big enough to make real difference. You have to carry universe with you in your heart and your dreams have to be as big as the universe itself.

Today is the time when Indian civic agencies are busy implementing JNURM, a mission to renew the urban infrastructure of the major Indian cities. We, the trenchless technologists, can provide relatively less painful solutions to several complex problems and situations if we are ready to take the challenge and dream big. I am striving to do this, are you joining me? If yes, here is the blue print.

INDSTT has established a high level task force comprising of the nominees of these agencies and trenchless stakeholders. We have received nominations from several stakeholders. Have you sent one? If not kindly do so now. Based on the nominations we shall be conducting the meetings of the nominees to address the trenchless technology application issues in this mission. A networking operation like this obviously provides ammunition for future technological developments and therefore this endeavour.

Another activity we are undertaking is developing an international service provider and Indian buyer directory. This directory would be provided to the stakeholders so that they can interact with other stakeholders. The sections proposed and structure is hosted on INDSTT website for more clarifications but the basic intent is to catalyze a better and more transparent procurement process and develop cost effective solutions. Have you sent your nominations for inclusion? If not, are you interested? If yes, please do not wait come and join me.

Conducting Trenchless Pipeline Manager training is another activity where we are aiming to sensitize / educate the stakeholders about eh virtues of trenchless technology application through a month long training course at Kielce University of Technology (KUT), Poland in association with KUT. Read more about this in an article in this issue.

Other endeavours include profiling of drillers for HDD works. This we are confident shall bring harmonization in the HDD markets of the region. You can read more of that in this issue.

We are confident that jointly we can be successful. Success belongs to those who are not afraid of challenges of hardships and adversity as opportunities are born of adversities. Take the challenge, come and work jointly and the dreams will become true.
