Inaugural Address by Mr. Chander Verma, Chairman, IndSTT
for
ADB Training Program
9th August, 2011
at
ADB Training Centre INRM2, Taj Palace, New Delhi
ADB Country Director, Mr. Hun Kim, Director General Central Public Works Department and Vice Chairman IndSTT, Er. C.S. Prasad, ladies and gentlemen,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to this training program on trenchless technologies organized in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This program is being conducted to train the personnel of the agencies taking up projects utilizing the latest trenchless technology techniques and methods. The program shall be covering the following topics:
1. Basics of trenchless technology techniques
2. Subsurface utility engineering and geotechnical techniques
3. Pipe line condition assessment techniques
4. Technology selection process & technique specifications
5. Guidelines to establish contract conditions for design and construction by trenchless techniques
6. Trenchless project economics & cost comparison with conventional construction techniques
7. Trenchless project execution guidelines
8. Trenchless project supervision & conclusion guidelines
The program shall conclude with interaction between participants and question & answer session. Several experts have been invited to explain the intricacies of the above topics, both from India as well as overseas. We are sure with their collective inputs the participants shall be immensely benefited.
Today IndSTT is releasing the following literature for the use of the trenchless industry:
1. August, 2011 issue of No Dig India Journal,
2. Second edition of standard general conditions for construction contracts employing trenchless technology;
3. Second edition of guidelines for application of special conditions of contract in construction contracts employing trenchless technology.
These will be great assets for the trenchless fraternity.
Also, this participant group is a distinguished one as it is the second group that is being sensitized about the standard operating procedures for trenchless technology which have been developed for PWD, Delhi Government for an accident free application. The SoP's are equally important for use at all urban locations. It would be prudent if this SoP is replicated by the participating civic authorities as works without regulation always leads to chaos rather than development. I invite you all to take this message forward and help the Indian trenchless industry to blossom.
I thank you all once again and propose the release of the publications by Mr. Hun Kim and Er. C.S. Prasad.
