“Underground is the future-Let's protect it jointly”
With the growth of Indian cities, particularly the megacities, continuing at an extremely fast pace, the need for abundant infrastructure and the demand for the Underground usage...............
Application of trenchless technology on a sustainable basis is only possible if adequate and uniform guidelines, essential for maturing such project, are available to stakeholders. Unless we bring out the techniques from closets, their proper and large-scale usage cannot be expected. To meet this end IndSTT has been developing various manuals and reference books for the stakeholders use for quite sometime.
In order to provide further working guidelines to trenchless stakeholders, IndSTT has planned to release several guideline manuals in the coming year. First set of manuals, is scheduled to be brought out by March 2012. This manual set shall provide inputs to overcome some of the critical issues faced by trenchless project executioners.
The set of six books provides guidelines on developing method statements, conducting adequate site investigations, supervision, third party inspection, or project management, and establishing arbitral procedures and dispute resolution systems. These guidelines have been developed to address the technical and techno-commercial information needs of project owners, their engineers, and advisors at one hand, and trenchless service providers at another. Generally both the group constituents face difficulties in project execution due to paucity of independent information and therefore the utility of these books.
These books are based on the results and recommendations of various interactions wherein different stakeholders have raised points and saught clarifications from IndSTT in its capacity as the independent technology promotion organization.
IndSTT is scheduling several technology promotional events across the nation this year and this set is planned to be released in the March 2012 event planned in Kolkata. It would not be out of place to mention here that after release of these six books, IndSTT publication portfolio would grow to 38 from the present 32 Trenchless Technology books and manuals. These 32 books and manuals are assisting the trenchless stakeholders, client and service provides alike, for quite sometime and the forthcoming books are expected to be of immense use to the readers as well.
